Facial makeup brushes and acne-prone?
I use foundation and powder on my face everyday. I have oily/ acne-prone skin. So I have a question about cleaning the brushes I use for my foundation and powder. How can I clean them well enough that they don't break my skin out? When I use makeup brush cleaner, I don't feel like it totally cleans the brushes enough. I have been told to use baby shampoo to clean them, but I don't see how baby shampoo gets all of the bacteria off? I am just really paranoid about my skin that I am very careful about what goes on my face. So how can I get my facial brushes really clean?(Getting the makeup off, getting the bacteria off, the oils it may have gotten from my face and dirt.) thanks

- Mac has a brush cleanser for $11.00 that definitely cleans your brush well. Just squirt a bit onto a kleenex, then swirl your brushes in it and you can really see how much dirt and makeup buildup was on them. And although you may not think baby shampoo does the trick, it's better to do that for now, until you can find another way than to not clean your brushes at all. :)
- I have similar skin and use washing up liquid to clean my brushes every day and leave the brushes to dry naturally, maybe on a windowsill with the window open. Try it - it seems to work for me but rinse it off carefully. Think of how it cleans greasy dishes!
- hahaha watch this video.. the girls hilarious and gets really in depth with cleaning your makeup brushes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UB_ZSy3Tt4o
- I dont have this, but I heard MAC has a really good one that's anti-bacterial and conditions brushes. to deep clean is what I'm assuming ur talking about heres what to do: Dishwashing liquid+extra virgin olive oil! Dishwashing soap will remove the bacteria, pigments, and oil on your brushes Extra virgin olive oil will condition your brushes and not clog your pores. the molecules in the olive oil are too big to clog your pores and cause acne (just to let u know. this wont make the brushes greasy either btw) Regular olive oil will just dissolve into the soap 1. Squirt some dishwashing liquid (Dawn, Palmolive, Joy, etc.) 2. Put some EVOO on top of the soap, put a little less than you did soap, no specific proportions really 3. Dip brush in the solution and make sure you have both soap and oil, and swirl on your hand, use more if you need too! 4. Rinse thoroughly in warm water, and swirl the brush in the palm of your hand. 5. Squeeze excess water out, and lay your brushes on their side on top or a towel, and allow to air dry. video that helped me tons!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVdciJkmb7o you do not need the brush guards like the video uses
